Michelle Yeoh is the first Golden Globe winner from Malaysia.

Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, the first Golden Globe winner from Malaysia, made history today (Jan. 11).


The 60-year-old actress, an Ipoh native, won the prize for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her work in the well praised movie Everything Everywhere All At Once.


She defeated Margot Robbie (Good Luck, Leo Grande), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Menu), Lesley Manville (Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris), and Emma Thompson (The Menu) as nominations (Babylon).


After winning a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, Ke Huy Quan also received a prize for Everything Everywhere At Once in addition to the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture honour.
